In his recent book, The Viennese Students of Civilization, Hayek Program Postdoctoral Fellow Erwin Dekker contends that the cultural environment of Vienna, Austria during the interwar period had a significant impact on the development of the Austrian School of Economics. In this video, he explains how the issues raised in a painting by Dutch artist Carel Willink were at the heart of the work of the Austrian economists during interwar Europe.
